Originally founded in 1915 in Japan to make motors, Makita is Japan’s number one manufacturer of electric power tools, with a focus on cordless tools. They sell tools in over 100 countries. Makita USA was founded in 1970 in New York. In 1978, they made their first cordless drill, and have been perpetually engineering and improving hand tools. In 1998, NASA used Makita power tools in space- if the product can stand up to that kind of punishment, it can certainly handle a weekend bookcase project! They have a little over 8,000 employees, and report revenues of about $1.5 billion.

I’m a tool guy. But all tools are not created equal, and among power tools Makita has no equal. I built this site showcase the same tools that fill my workshop- Makita. Contractors, carpenters and “do it your selfers” deserve a solid, dependable power tool. This is the place to find it.
